Website case studies

PROJECTS

The thinking behind each website

Each case study looks beyond the finished website to the conversations, decisions and discoveries that led to it.

Websites built around

real people and real needs

The finished design is only part of the story. Before I build a website, I spend time understanding the business, the people it serves and what the website needs to help them do. Sometimes that means making years of information easier to navigate. Sometimes it means helping nervous visitors feel comfortable asking for support. Sometimes it means capturing the character of a new place and the community growing around it. These case studies show how that understanding carries through into the content, structure, design and functionality of each website.

The Piscatorial Society

Making a complex organisation easier to understand

The Society’s website had to make sense to prospective members, existing members, conservation partners and people encountering it for the first time. This case study looks at how I untangled those different journeys without losing the history and character that make the Society what it is.
Corners Surbiton Website
CORNERS SURBITON

Bringing the community into a restaurant website

Johnny was opening a new restaurant and wine bar on a road with a strong food scene and an established local community. This case study looks at how the website brings Corners’ people, events and relaxed character into view alongside the practical information visitors need.

Starting with the moment someone needs help

People do not always ask for computer help as soon as they need it. This case study looks at how understanding their frustration, embarrassment and need for reassurance led to a website centred on Isabelle’s patient, personal way of helping.
